Better Baseball/Softball In The Upper Valley

Thanks for taking the time to read this letter from the editor. I’m so excited about our new website that I almost don’t know where to begin. For starters, this site is designed exclusively for the Upper Valley and our intent is to cater to baseball and softball players of all ages.

To take a project like this from conception to reality is much like the game of baseball itself: it’s not a destination, but a journey. In keeping with that concept, we will be constantly evolving to give you the best possible product influenced largely by your input. UVBA will always be available for your comments and suggestions.

What does it take to be successful in baseball or softball as a player, a coach or a front office personnel? The lessons learned transcend from the field to life. Attitudes, desire and a willingness to triumph over the adversity we face every day are the keys to fulfillment, both physically and psychologically.

For every professional athlete in the world, there are approximately 16,000 wannabes with countless reasons for not making the grade; lack of talent, improper training, heartbreaking career ending injuries, or just plain bad breaks.. On the flip side there are the overachievers of the world; the Dustin Pedroias who succeed in spite of the naysayers and seemingly overwhelming odds. But the beauty of our sport, as any, are the myriad of careers in the periphery of the game. Managers, coaches, commentators, columnists, commissioners, reporters, HR and PR departments, presidents, accountants and so on ad infinitum. If you really love the game there’s a home for you somewhere.

Bottom line is; you don’t have to be a great player to be heralded in the athletic world. If you really love the game, give it your best shot, both on the field and off. Let your love of the sport be infectious and make the game a better place for having been there.
